Anyone who shoots large quantities of lead needs this tool. Be careful when adjusting the tension on the rubber plug, if you expand it too much it will be VERY HARD to pull through the barrel. You want some resistance but within reason. Make a couple of passes and clean the lead off of the brass screen between passes. The sooner you can do this after firing (like at the range while the gun is still warm) the easier it is to get it all out.

The ones I have are the original patent Lewis Lead Removers, but the principle is the same. It can help a great deal to run a patch of Kroil or PB Blaster or Shooter's Choice Lead Remover in and let it sit overnight before usig the tool. Put a patch of Gun Scrubber or other solvent degreaser through it to remove the surface lubricating properties of the penetrant or cleaner, then use the bronze gauze and rubber plug to scrape it out.
You might also want to look at Sharpshoot-R's new No-Lead product. It is the first actual lead solvent I am aware of that doesn't harm steel. In addition, the Outer's FoulOut III is available that removes lead electrolytically.

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions.
I found out about Kroil by using it on some leaded .22 lr bores. Do they make the Hoppe's Kit in many calibers ? I ordered one for the .41 cal., but didn't see any others for sale. |

There used to be .45, .44, and .38/.357/9 mm versions.
