How much WST behind a 155 grain in .40 and 10mm?

I need some loading info please. The Winchester website has this crappy PDF file thing I need to download and I can't get it to work, otherwise I would go there for the info.

I am using Winchester Super Target and I am loading 155gr FMJ bullets into 40 caliber and 10mm.

Can someone please give me the powder charge that I should start at for these two loads?

According to Winchesters load manual:

.40 S&W - 5.5 gr. min to 6.0 gr. max.

10mm - 5.0 gr. min to 8.0 gr. max.

My manual for lead bullets says about 5.0 - 5.6gr WST for 155gr .40 caliber, so your numbers sound just about like what I had expected (just a little more powder for FMJ).

In .40 cal I use 4.7gr WST with good results.

Is that for a 155gr FMJ?

If so, that sounds really light.

I just loaded 100 rounds of .40 155gr FMJ with 5.5gr WST. I have not fired it yet, but if you are only using 4.7gr WST behind that exact bullet, then I may be going a bit hot. Please tell me more, because you are loading a much lighter powder charge than the manuala say, if you are using 155gr FMJ bullets.

It does seem light I agree---but try it anyhow,maybe it was a fluke---some times these light loads can surprise.Generally the best accuracy comes with a bit of grunt,but not always--depends on the barrel and other variables---it's all about working up a load,I don't think there's anything wrong with what you have.
