Thoughts on Rossi Rifle/Shotgun combo....
Found a Rossi Matched pair, 308 Win/12ga shotgun, that im thinking about buying myself for Xmas, LOL. Anybody have any experience with them? I havent really heard anything bad, just wondering what everyones opinions are. Ive never owned a rifle, but id like to not spend a small fortune on one, in case i dont like it. Ive shot 30-30's and 300 win mags, and 300wsm, and 30-06, and was told the 308 is similar to most of those. Any thoughts?

I have a Rossi in .308 that I bought on clearance at a local sporting goods store. I liked that it came with a scope and hard case. If I could do it over again, I wouldn't. It can't hit a pop can consistently at 50 yds. 50 YDS!!!. Not good at all for my standards... with scope.

The thought of a .308 and 12 gauge combination is appealing. Throw in a .22 barrel and you have all the bases covered.
I have owned both the H&R and Rossi setups. Neither ones are what I would consider a high quality firearm. I would rank the H&R above the Rossi. My Rossi had a plastic sight which I thought was cheesy. Both had crap triggers. My opinion is that the Rossi is adequate. It is accurate enough and it has value for the money you pay for it. Just don't try to compare them to a Thompson or you'll be dissappointed. |
