What handgun do you feel is the most intimidating?!!

The one gun that makes me feel the most at ease is my 6 inch 357 mag. Taurus. Aftermarket grips, Its the easiest to load out of all my guns, and man does it look intimidating! I scared the **** out of the meter reader when I came outside with it. Even though I had the gun at pointed downwards at my waist.

you guys ever feel that alive at 8:00 am?? (or earlier hah!)

No question:

Vash the Stampede's 45LC Top Break Blaster

I'm sure Dirty Harry's Model 29 will rank highly. I think my 8-shot .357 TRR8 looks pretty mean, with its evil matte black finish and faceted shroud. Did I mention it's looks are backed up with 8 rounds of .357? Weighs as much as a gun half as intimidating, too

Since it hasn't been said...

I would find most intimidating the one that was pointed at me.

As would most folks, I assume.

I hope to never have a baseline comparison, or the opportunity to poll the one person I know of who was on the potential receiving end.

Yes, that would be the one. You can have a artillery piece, and if it's not pointing in my direction I have little to fear.

Just about any bigbore revolver looks pretty intimidating to me with all those big holes staring at whoever is unfortunate enough to have the gun pointed at them.

Need to be real careful about "brandishing" a weapon. Even if you don't break the letter of the law, a city service, as in this case, could easily refuse future service. Or worse.

Without a muzzle extension or suppressor, it depends on if the stock is open or closed.

Why did you have your gun out so the meter reader could see it?

I've had two confrontations, one with a big revolver (7 1/2" barrel) and the other with a small semi-auto. Fortunately both guns were deterrents (the perps gave up without any shooting) but the revolver was more noticeable and the two perps stopped dead in their tracks. BUT two confrontations isn't enough to make conclusions- a sawed off double barrel shotgun- probably very good.

I'd be much more intimidated by the pair of cold steely eyes behind the handgun rather than the weapon itself.

2 bore handguns - muzzle loading, or not.

2 bore vs 9mm
2 bore vs .700 Nitro Express
2 bore rifle muzzle
Muzzle loading pistol (From Stolzer & Son's)

It isn't really the size of the cartridge or handgun that is intimidating, but the 3,500 grain (1/2 pound) projectiles.

Taurus Judge

I like the Taurus Judge/Public Defender or the Bond Derringer 45/410. It has a Big hole to get the wide eyed effect and it's not entirely dependent upon aim w/the shotgun shells....more pointing than aim. I carry a holstered Bond stainless Snake Charmer in my truck's console with the 45/410 bbl and the blued Public Defender 45/410 is next to my bed. The Bond is a good gun to have if there's a belligerant raging problem at my truck's side window. At close quarters the 45/410 is definitely a problem solver. Of course if there's a truck exit needed, I carry a Springfield XDS 45 ACP on my person. I like big holes tho. Most of the time they do the job in silence just by being produced.

I don't find any guns "intimidating" that aren't pointed at me. And as others have pointed out, ANY gun that is pointed at you is extremely intimidating.

Many years ago while sitting in the passenger seat I had a large silver revolver suddenly pointed at my face from a range of about 3 feet. I hit the floorboard while yelling at my partner "Go, Go Go!".

Never found out exactly what the gun was, but I still distinctly remember seeing the rifling in the bore. My impression at the time was that it was somewhere in the neighborhood of a 3" or 4" howitzer.

The one that was pointed at me by the motorcycle Cop.

It was a hot day in Columbia South Carolina (early 70's) and he told me that I had run a stop light. He also told me that I was trying to out-run him. When I realized his flashing blue light and siren was intended for my benefit. I stopped. He pulled his pistol and pointed it at my face. Most likely a 38 special but it was plenty big enough for me. He immediately got my attention. That was the most intimidating handgun I have ever seen.
