How to store your leather holster and belt?

Hey folks! I recently got a double gun fighter style holster and belt rig for my two black powder revolvers! I love it, it's very nice, and I'd like to do my best to keep it in great shape.

I was wondering what would be a good way to store the belt and holsters? They are drop leg holsters and are not easily removed from the belt, so I hope to be able to keep it all together and in a manner that wont be bending or distorting the leather. And also I'm trying not to take up too much space

Any ideas ?

I just hang mine on my bedpost.

One way (that I've really considered) would be to get a mannequin and dress it up in period clothes to your set-up and keep the rig on it when not in use.

Just make sure it get plenty of air circulation.

I like the mannequin idea . You could use it as a security guard.

Hang it up. Use a coat hanger through the buckle and hang it in a closet.

Plenty of air circulation? Is that important?

Right now I've taken a sleeping bag that needed to be wrapped up, and put my belt and holsters around it, with a big trash bag around the whole thing to keep it dust free and to help hold it all together.... Anything wrong with that?

I have it laying down so that the buckle is face down and the holsters are to the side.

If you store or have a large # of leather/gear, I'd put a light coat of Ballistol or another well made protection/care product on it and place it in a cool, dry dark place.
You want air to circulate but for the temp/conditions not to be humid or damp.
I used to store my leather Aker shoulder rig in a old cedar lined cabinet. I'd also treat the leather 2/3 times a year to prevent mildew & rot.

As a young US Army MP in SOUTHCOM(Southern Command) I saw many soldiers, MPI/CIDC agents with leather holsers(good & bad) rot to #%*+ from a lack of proper storage & care.
Founder of Bianchi Intl and a former sworn LE officer; John Bianchi wrote a detailed guide about care/cleaning of leather products and police duty gear.
