Going with what is probably the intent of the thread, my most common CCW holds 5 (640-1, an always gun) and eleven (.40 Hi Power, great primary pistol) rounds.

Six, eight, or nine, depending on the carry gun.

If I had just one carry gun, the question would be easy. The number of rounds varies from 5 in my J frame Smith's and Taurus, to13 in my CZ 75D PCR and my Browning 9mm HPs. All my 1911s use Chip McCormick Shooting Stars, that hold 8, and my .40 Browning holds 10. My other carry guns are mostly Smith & Wesson K and N frames, with 6 rounds.

Well, (Springfield M19A1) 8 rounds in it, "cocked & locked" with another 7 rd. mag in a carrier. Then my "Circle K / K-Mart" shopping gun (S&W M36) carries 5 rounds with a speedloader & 5 extra rds. in my pocket.

The rest of the year either 10+1 or 13+1. Occaisonally 15+1 in the 92FS, but not that often. |

Glock 19......15 round mag w/ +2 extension....so the damned thing will fit in my hand. One in chamber= 18 rounds.
other carry gun 7 in mag one in chamber (compact 1911) would rather have my 8 rounds of corbon 185 grain +p hollowpoints than the 18 rounds of 9mm.

My carry gun holds five rounds.and it`s a Ruger SP101 2.25"
These 5 rounds are all when I carry.I may be old-fashioned, or I`ve seen not enough movies by John Woo.Still ,I think if I`m not the winner after I fired 5 rounds,I wouldn`t have time to reload, even with a spare speedloader in my pocket. I did not mention loose rounds in a pocket,FOR GOOD REASONS! Good shooting

It depends...
When I carry a J-frame, five rounds. When I carry a .45, seven rounds and when I carry a 9mm with a 15 or more round magazine I carry 12 rounds. Why only 12? To save tension on the magazine springs. My .45 mags are 8 rounders by the way. I'd rather take a minimal chance of running out of rounds (average gunfight is over in three) than take a chance in having plenty of rounds in a jammed pistol... |

Hmmf, I say if the mag was designed to hold 8 load it with 8.
Besides, new mag springs are cheap.... Last edited by PsychoSword; September 25, 2002 at 01:13 AM. |

Depends on the day - - -
TODAY:
13+1 Browning High Power Yesterday: 8+1 Colt Commander LW Just recently got the HP, and getting accustomed to it. I may one day develop proper confidence in it. Yesterday is a fleeting memory. Tomorrow is a dream. TODAY is reality. Best, Johnny |

Rounds in the CCW weapon...
Generally, it's the S&W 1066. Nine round mag, one in the chamber.... and a spare mag, just in case.

we don't have CCW in Ohio,but i do have a 10 shot 45 auto in case of emergency. it's a Para-Ordnance p-10.
if CCW passes,i'll switch to a 6 shot 44 or 45 LC. a S&W Trail Boss if i have my way. i figure, once it's legal,my primary objective is a weapon retentive shooter. i really prefer revolvers, but the Para-Ordnance is highly efficient(and reliable) with Winchester Silvertips. |

5.......S&W .38.......either Federal Hyrashoks or Remingto Golden Sabre +P's. Plus extra rounds just in case.
Other guns at other times but that's the one I'm most likely to have on me at any given time.
