Light 45acp revolver load/700x

I have had a difficult time finding a light 45ACP load for a revolver using 700x.

I finally hit on this: 185gn Barnes plated Flat 3.8gn 700x 1.14 OAL

The recommended starting load was 4.5gn from hodgdon.

Since this was going to be revolver only I figure I can reduce the load from 4.5 and work up if needed. Plated fn was what was available.

Does anyone think I will get in trouble with this?

The Hodgdon site suggests 4.9-5.5 of 700x with a 185gr JSWC.

I'd be a little leery of 3.8, probably should start at 4.5.

The recent powder shortages have forced me to try to use whatever I can get. I managed to pick up several pounds of 700X this spring and have worked with it to find a nice load for my 45ACPs.

A nice standard velocity load is right around 4.5 grs under a 185 Gr bullet.

My 8 pound spring 1911s love 3.5 grains under a 200 gr swc. its nearly as accurate as my target loads with win231 ( but can't find it right now ).

to the OP: 3.8 - 4.0 grains in a 45 ACP revolver should be a nice mild load, just don't shoot it out of a long barreled revolver...
