New Walthers Announced

Possible "new" .22 PPK w. threaded barrel and a new PPX that looks like a PPQ (that had children with a Ruger SR22P) with a true DOA hammer design and the mag release in the "regular" style (button on the grip rather than a paddle release in the trigger guard).

Personally I like the trigger guard style release (on PPS and P99) but if I carry them I have to train specifically for it (switching styles back and forth leads to confusion I've found).

Will probably be a while before they're available but at least Walther's trying to appeal to a broader market in the long run (mag release change)...

Also wonder if the PPK will be a S&W or a true Walther (the whole parting ways thing...).

According to the release I saw, S&W will continue to produce the PPK and PPK/S for Walther, and Walther will continue to produce one of S&W's firearms (I don't recall which) for them.

I've got a Manurhin, (Walther) PPK/S in .22 and its a very nice shooting gun. A new model PPK in that caliber would be popular and a threaded barrel for a suppressor would be just dandy.

The other night at the range I shot a P22 with suppressor and there wasn't any need for hearing protection. I gave it high marks which isn't bad for a first impression.

I'm happy, so long as they keep the P99 and P99c in production...I actually prefer the AS trigger.

If you love the (excellent) PPQ, you probably won't be drawn to the PPX.

It will serve as Walther's "budget" semiautomatic centerfire pistol, akin to S&W's Sigma/SD-series, SIG's P250, or Ruger's P95. I doubt it will do anything the P99/PPQ doesn't already do better.
