Where do you keep your truck/car (hand)gun?

I'm just wondering what seems most convenient and works best for you guys. I don't carry cross draw and drawing from a strong side holster or pocket isn't very fast or efficient while wearing a seat belt (for me anyway). I don't have a place in the center console so I'm pretty much limited to glove compartment, under the seat, or seat pocket on back of the passenger seat.

Glove box seems bad, especially if trouble approaches from the passenger side window and you can't just drive off (think drive thru or traffic light). Gun under the seat can move around which makes it impossible to know exactly where it is. Seat pocket behind passenger seat allows the gun to be drawn while staying concealed. This seems to work best for me but I'm always open to new ideas...

I have the same issue, when I carry with my IWB holster while I am driving, it is not that easy to get to and takes more time than I am comfortable with. I've seen those things that mount under the steering column, but am not sure if they're legal in NY state. Anyone have a link to a company that makes those?

Hey fellas
Check out a Remora holster there inexpensive for IBW but there made of a ruberish substance that works good between the seats, between the seat and console etc. I think there about $25.00.

When I drove my vehicle(a 4 door sedan), I kept my firearm in a unlocked plastic/pad gun case in the front passenger seat. I used a Plano or Docsil brand.
If I went out for a bit(restaurant, film, cigar, etc) I locked up the case and put it in the back rear passenger floor area or the vehicle trunk.
This was to avoid anyone having a clear view of a firearm case & to prevent direct sunlight.
If I would be gone for extended periods or going home, I'd remove the loaded firearm/case entirely.
I'm not in the "I leave my loaded guns lying around in the truck." crowd.

In a lock box fastened to the floor. The key is with the ignition so i'd be forced to stop the vehical to open the gun box. 99% of the time I have a regular carry gun... If for some reason I feel the need for a second gun I'll go to the truck gun, or If I dont have a carry gun with me... I can get out the truck gun of I feel threatened.

This is what I did- military tubular webbing cut to fit around my seat and then some, sewed some buckles to it. Then I sewed a 20$ holster to the webbing. Keeps my gun right between my legs in a safe place. If I get in an accident, it's not gonna fly around my car, and I can easily retrieve it if necessary.

In the bottom center console box in my SUV along with the two extra 15 round mags to support it. This is the back up gun for the one I am carrying on myself with two extra mags on weak side. CCW is Remora at Mex Carry. That is a lot of rounds I can use in the event of!!!

I think thats a good location to draw it from but if any part of it can be seen from outside the vehicle that is a problem in Texas. Guess not if you have open carry in Alabama?

I don't want any locks on my guns in a vehicle, because I don't leave them there, and I am afraid of someone breaking in and stealing them. So I usually keep them on me. I bought a pouch that installed in one of my vehicles in front of the driver's seat. But thats no faster than getting one from the console. Maybe a right handed holster might make it easier to draw from, but I am left handed. A bit awkward for me with the gun on the left side. Guess I need to find a solution to that problem.

Last night I went to Cabelas because I just purchased my Anti-Car Jacking gun a few days ago & I needed something to secure it in. I purchased the Gun Vault MV500. It has a key pad that is easy to program a code & also a key for a secondary way to open it. It's fairly slim & I keep it on the passenger seat for fast access. It comes with a security cable so I secured it to my passenger seat. I have one in both of my cars, it's a good way to secure your handguns & other valuable in the car.

The side pouch on the door holds a G23 in a cheap uncle mikes holster. It is wedged in there so no issue of it moving around. I always carry on the body. Being a left handed handguner I find that I can draw my gun fine when seat belted. I can reach the G23 just as fast.

I also have a redneck rack for a shotgun. I love VT

It fits perfectly in the console between the front seats and is completely concealed and easy to get my hand on.

I drive a regular cab truck with a bench seat. I have a cabelas (camo of course) seat cover on it that has lacing on the sides to secure it. I've found that a right hand IWB holster can be slipped behind a strand of the lacing and hung from the clip. This puts the gun in very similar position to carrying it in a shoulder holster. I just have to reach across with my right hand and draw it, and it is between the seat and the side wall of of the cab/back edge of the doorframe where it is pretty much hidden from view to anyone passing by.
I don't leave it there when I'm not in the truck, but for longer trips its nice to put the gun there while I'm on the road and then move it to my carry holster when I get to my destination.

This is an M&P compact 9 in a home made holster. The holster rides pretty low, which probably makes it more stable, but I'm sure you could do the same with any IWB holster.
