Here's one I made. It didn't have the under lever in the picture with three guns. I latter modified the under lever and installed three earth magnets to keep it up when firing. I also think it looks more proper seeing how Remington used the sail on all their six shooters.

Nice! And clever!

I don’t care much for the look with the sail missing myself, but figured if I cut mine back it needs to be able to load using the lever so I’d need a small cheater bar to be able to slip over. I had measured and found I could cut it back to about 4.25” and still pull the base pin far enough to remove the cylinder.

Nice job. Dovetails cut by hand or machined?

Looks great! Just to be clear though, the 1890 didn't have the sail or web. They removed it so it would look more like the SAA in hopes of increasing sales. Didn't work . . . I like the looks of all of them though!!

Sorry I never got back but the Chinese Flu put me in the hospital for a bit. I'm now still on oxygen, but can finally sit at the ol PC. Cut the dovetails by hand - a little nerve racking but they turned out ok. I did one practice run on the barrel I cut off. The last picture is without the sail. I didn't like the looks so I trimmed the sail and glued in some earth magnets to keep it up - as the second pic shows. It shoots fine with either the C&B cyl or the 45 LC cyl in it. The sights still have to be changed soon as I'm getting around again. They are just something I had laying in my muzzle loading sight drawer but don't look worth a sh!!.
I always thought Remington goofed up removing the sail on their 1890 guns. One of the things I liked about their revolvers.

Speedy recovery, look up L-lysine to help with that, you dont need a prescription. Dandelion Leaf tea also helps...both are anti-viral.

Pistol looks great.

Howdy

As has been stated, the Model 1875 Remington, at the top of this photo, had the web under the barrel.

The Model 1890, at the bottom of the photo, did not.

It is generally thought that the web under the barrel of the 1875 model was meant to mimic the shape of the loading lever of the 1858 Percussion model. It has often been stated that the web added strength, but in my opinion it did not. Attached to the front of the frame with a pin, and screwed into the underside of the barrel, it did not add much rigidity to the assembly. The web was still present under the barrel of the 1890 model, but it was re contoured so much of it was removed. Still pinned to the frame at its rear and screwed to the underside of the barrel at the front.

I've got a 75 Sheriffs model. That sail says " Remington". I don't care if it doesn't do anything - to me it looks cool and why I bought a single action instead of the DA year gun.
