Was thinking about ordering a couple hundred 147 grain JHP plated Rainier bullets for some 9mm shooting.

Have a couple pounds of W231.

Any accurate and reliable recipes?

I found W231 to be just a bit hot for 147 gr. in 9MM. I went to a slower powder, AA-7.

IIRC I was down to around 3 gr. of W231. Seemed awfully light to me. I do like W231 for the 115-124 gr. plated bullets, however.

I found 3.5 GR W231 was a very accurate load
with an OAL of 1.130!

tonyz:

what type of 147 grain bullet were you using. I'm talking about some Rainier JHPs.

I have used rainer bullets, but not in the 147 Gr.I like 115 and 122FP the most. Rainer are good bullets but expencive.
In the 147 Gr I Have used lazercast. I have found for accuracy lazercast has been about the most Accurate Bullet I have used.
I usually use Hardcast Enterprises bullets
As thet are inexpensive and very good overall for the price.
I am also trying Precision Bullets. The black panther bullet. So far there has been no leading yet that was using my 9mm.
I am working on some 357/38 loads for this weekend.
JT, 147Gr is a lot of lead for a 9MM any reason you are going with that heavy of a round? Good Luck

Just working up a nice load for my kel Tec Sub-9 carbine in 9mm. I also shot a lot of 185 grain JHP in my 45 so a 147 grain 9mm round is a good substitute.

What loads did you find good accuracy and function?
