Reduced Loads with 7mm Mauser Jacketed Bullets
I have two rifles chambered 7mm Mauser. one is a Chileno model 1895 full length rifle and the other is a Spanish model 1916 carbine.
Both rifles have some frosting in the bores, but not bad. I am not sure if the bores will lead with cast bullets. I will find out soon. I have some 140 grain PPU jacketed soft point bullets and wonder if they can be down loaded enough to get these rifles to shoot closer to the point of aim at 50 and 100 yards. Both rifles tend to shoot well above the point of aim at 100 yards with the battle notch. |

I don't know much about that particular cartridge, but if you're going to reduce a load, use H4895. Google youth loads Hodgdon and it'll give you data and the formula.
I believe you take 60% of max shown for your cartridge and then work from there up. I did reduced loads for my daughter, and stair stepped it up to where she is now shooting a full load. |
