Colt Percussion Revolver ID

Hi Folks!

Today I picked up a original Colt percussion revolver ...

Now, what the heck did I buy?

It is a six-shot, .36-caliber gun with a 7-1/2 barrel. The serial number is 112691, and the barrel stamp reads “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”. The entire grip strap is brass. The "naval" scene on the cylinder is very faint, but still there.

I think its a Colt 1851 Navy Fourth Model. Yes? No?

Thanks!
Dave

Yep, made in 1862. Looks like a nice one.

It appears to be in very good shape. The plunger screw is not original; I would replace it with good repro.

And yes, that is what is called the Early Fourth Model. The cap loading cutout should be without the cap slot.

Thanks! That looked out of place. I already checked Numrich, and they don't have the part. Can you recommend a source?

Thanks again!

That looks nice.
As to source, I don't know, but there are several listed on the internet for parts.
As to which are any good, I have no idea.

Cool! Thanks!

BTW ... I'm not a black powder guy. I'm a Browning shotgun guy, but I picked up this Colt at an auction where I also picked up an older Superposed.

So, as intriguing as the Colt is, it has to go to finance the Superposed, and I've put the Colt up for sale at a popular auction site. (Forgive me for being cryptic, but I'm not sure how the forum management here feels about external auction sites.)

Thanks again!

If you put it up at a good price, it should sell pretty fast. There is always a market for nice 51 Navies.
