Colt Percussion Revolver ID
Hi Folks!
Today I picked up a original Colt percussion revolver ...  Now, what the heck did I buy? It is a six-shot, .36-caliber gun with a 7-1/2 barrel. The serial number is 112691, and the barrel stamp reads “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”. The entire grip strap is brass. The "naval" scene on the cylinder is very faint, but still there. I think its a Colt 1851 Navy Fourth Model. Yes? No? Thanks! Dave |

It appears to be in very good shape. The plunger screw is not original; I would replace it with good repro.
And yes, that is what is called the Early Fourth Model. The cap loading cutout should be without the cap slot. Jim |

As to source, I don't know, but there are several listed on the internet for parts. As to which are any good, I have no idea. dc |

So, as intriguing as the Colt is, it has to go to finance the Superposed, and I've put the Colt up for sale at a popular auction site. If you put it up at a good price, it should sell pretty fast. There is always a market for nice 51 Navies.

percussion revolver
looks a lot like the one i have that has been in the family for over 100 years. mine is a larger caliber though
