SKS and AK inter-compatibility

Is there any?

Specifically, I'm interested in whether or notAK mags might fit SKS rifles.

My choices in 7.62x39 are now Saiga, VZ58, or SKS.

Still not sure I'll take the plunge, but I'd still like to know as much as I can in case a good deal turns up.

As usual, basic bits are hard to find, such as mags for the likes of the SKS. Saiga mags shouldn't be too hard, though as with the CZ...

So, are they close cousins or just look-a-likes with no real common ground?

The only interchanges I know of besides the ammo are the AK mags will fit the Norinco D & M models of the SKS, sometimes referred to as Sporter models or Paratrooper models.
The AK and the SKS bear some resemblance to each other, but that's it.

CZ is probably the best followed by the AK then the SKS. very few if any parts interchange in the CZ and AK. For the SKS I think there was an adapter to allow it to take AK mags but I can't remember who made it or if it was any good.

I don't know of any adapters that worked at all or any magazines that work well in the SKS.

THe Norinco D&M do take AK mags. THe M does not take polymer, single stack, or drums. THey were going for over $500 before the scare. Don't know what they bring now.

Edit: Looked it up on gunbroker and they seem to be fetching about $1000.
