44-40 Ammo

Would like to run some ammo thru my Grampa's old 44-40 Colt Lightning rifle. Kinda nostalgic as I'm 68. Any ideas where I can get some plinking ammo reasonably priced ? Thanks

Reasonably priced 44-40 ammo? There is no such animal unless you roll your own. It usually runs around 35.00 per box.

I load my own for somewhere between $8.00 and $10 a box. Haven't figured it up lately though & prices of everything have gone up.

Cheaper to buy brass elsewhere.

Buy a sack of Starline brass and a bag of soft cast bullets and go to town.

Pistolover loads, but they'll work just fine in that Lightening.
