Best gun for 1500 dollars.

If you had 1500 dollars to blow on a semi automatic pistol, what kind of gun would you get. I'm looking for 3 things out of my gun. Durability, reliability, and good looks. I don't care about ergos and size and weight. What do you think is a gun that for fills that role well?

There was literally just a thread about this, but if I personally had 1500 bucks right now, I'd be looking at one of the higher end HKs or the Sig X5.

I got lucky and bought an Hk Mark 23 for $1200 with very slight use. I am a happy happy buyer.

Really an oddly phrased question. Still, here goes...

Other than a handful of pistols that are widely recognized as cheap junk, every make and model of handgun underneath your price point meets somebody's idea of durable and reliable.

And as to good looks, that's a personal judgment, and will vary as much as the people you ask.

Also, while the gun's design does play a part, as does the manufacturing quality, beyond that, reliable is going to depend entirely on the specific, individual gun you have, and the ammo you feed it.

Also, you didn't say new (or still in production), only, so that opens the field to everything semiauto ever made that's under your price point.

I've got a Mauser Bolo Broomhandle I'll let you have for $1500. Got a Luger I'll let go for that amount. I'd even consider selling my Desert Eagle .44 for that amount.

I got a Jennings .22 I'll let you have for $1500, and on that one, I'll even pay the shipping and FFL fees!

the X5s I've held look nice but didn't impress me with their trigger. very long reset, and for the price you're paying they should include the SRT setup.

P210 would be an excellent addition

Ace_Breaker... I'm jealous. that's on my shortlist and you got a hell of a price on it. I'd pay $1200 all day on that one.

The funny thing is, the shop had two of them on consignment. The owner accepted the price I offered. It will be snuggled up next to my P210 Legend, P7M13, and Rohrbaugh R9! This is getting to be a sickness for nice guns!

Yep. Typically a longer slide/barrel, stainless steel frame (except Tactical), target bull barrel, SA only trigger (except Allround), and hand fitted in the Mastershop in Germany

If I had $1500 dedicated to spend on just one pistol, I would probably be tempted to find a Desert Eagle in .357mag/.44mag where I can change out barrel, bolt, and mag and shoot both calibers.

If it didn't have to be dedicated to 1, then probably a GP100, a Glock, and maybe a MK III 22/45.

I'd be more likely to spend $1500 on three $500 pistols, since $500 is the rough price point at which the standard starts to be service-grade, bet-your-life reliable handguns.

$1500 on one I would buy a nice, duty-level 1911 like a Dan Wesson Valor or a Springfield TRP. I'd also consider a nice stainless Sig like an X5 or Stainless Elite P226 or P229.

Finally, I'd try to scare up a rare or discontinued variant of the Beretta 92, like the Steel I.

Trying to buy an HK P7M8 for that price. If not that, the next gun on my list is the WW1 reproduction 1911 from Colt in Carbonia Blue. One just sold for about $1350 so that puts it right in range.

Depends on what you have in terms of handguns / and what you want....

If you don't have a decent 1911....in that price range, I'd probably look at some of the Colt or Springfield 1911's --- they're not top end guns / but both companies are doing very well ( and you have options in both 9mm and .45 acp calibers).

I like the Sig X-Fives as well...but the L-1 model, of that X-Five group of the 226's lists at about $ 2,747 ...and in my area is selling for around $ 2,400...but its a nice gun.

The X-Five tactical version - lists at about $ 1,700 and is selling in my area for around $1,400 ....( but it doesn't have the adjustable trigger / or the weight of the L-1 model, which I like personally ).

Ergo's are one of the more important aspects for me. Size and weight need to match what I want to use a particular gun for.

Good looks is 100% subjective.

I'd look at Sig and HK models first. I also like Beretta, FNH, Steyr, and Walther.
