Have you contacted your elected officials today?
Please don't assume they are going to vote one way or another. Remind them they have your support in defending the 2nd Amendment and will have your active opposition if they don't defend it. I was thinking that it would be a waste of time contacting Chuck Schumer (Dem Senator NY) but then figured that I had nothing to loose.
Also, if you are not a member of the NRA you would be advised to join. I do not always agree with what they do but right now it is what we have. Also see about joining your State organization. Sorry if it's been said many times before, it needs to be said again. There are various Open Letters and templates out there if you don't know what you want to say. I'll try to post some links later. Hickok45 has a link to one on his Youtube Channel. (now copied below) http://www.ammoland.com/2012/12/20/o...#axzz2Fhfb3uGV Last edited by Cascade1911; December 23, 2012 at 03:51 PM. |

My current elected official is out on vacation, or with his secret lover, or busy stealing my money or wasting it for that matter.

This has been a problem in Australia on many issues. To few people bother
to take the time to WRITE to their local member. |

White House, 2 senators, representative, secretary of state. I get on another list and only one senator will pay attention to what I wrote in a positive manner.

Absolutely. Pro gun legislators will be under a lot of pressure. Make sure they know we are behind them. I've also let my State Senator know I am at his service if he needs my active participation.

The senator I'd be contacting has never had an original thought of his own. He just tows the party line no matter what.

I have
My letter to my congressman
Sir, In light of recent events and talk of possible new laws, I feel it necessary to address a serious flaw I see on both sides of most of the arguments I see when it comes to our rights and the Constitution. This does not apply only to the 2nd amendment but all 10 of the original amendments known as the Bill of Rights. These are NOT a list of rights for the people but rather a list of rules for what the government CAN and CANNOT do. I have heard no one state this more clearly than a man I have a great deal of respect for, I frequently read his posts on an internet forum. He goes by the name 44 AMP and the following is a direct quote from one of his posts. Quote:
Please remember this fact when you debate on either side of any discussion relating to our Constitution. Any other twist one would choose to put on this is a perversion of our founding fathers’ intent. Whether we agree with the Constitution or not is irrelevant it is the foundation of this great nation. It is not to be changed or tampered with to suit our current beliefs or political interests. The Constitution was written to protect these United States of America and her people. Thank you for your time.
