Best boots for shifts 7-12 hours?
I am looking for boots that are very comfortable! just ankle cut/6 inches or less. My feet hurt really bad, and I already have inserts but thats not enough. I have sensitive feet, and need all the comfort I can add. I like light weight(nothing is going to fall on my foot steel toe is not required but nice, and waterproof is a must. I have somes cheap $50 ones but they arn't the best and usually my sock is very damp after working 7-9 hours.

Well, I wear Justin's now, and comfort has been pretty good. They are s slip on calf high boot. I have changed insoles 3 times, but now the outsole is shot. At 270 lbs, I think I'm hard on boots.
I wore Red Wing slip on's before and got ~8 months out of the first insoles. And the second kept them going another 6 months. I think I will be going back to Red Wing. I have had like 5 pair of Red Wings and only 1 didn't last a year. |

Hard to beat USA made Danners. They aren't cheap, $250 or so, but they will last for years.
Exactly what you're going to use them for would help. In addition to Danners I've found some of the better quality hiking boots to be the best value in quality comfortable boots. You can often find really good hiking boots cheap just because last years boot is a different color and is discounted when this years boot comes out. I've found really good deals here. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/mens-boots~d~137/ I backpack, hunt, and work on a volunteer Search and Rescue team. Walking 15+ miles a day, for days at a time in steep terrain is common. I'm currently wearing this. http://www.rei.com/product/780681/sa...ing-boots-mens |

Call the local RedWing dealer, ask if they have the foot pressure sensor. If so, go there - it's a device that you stand on, it measures and displays the pressure points of your feet. Each person has a ratio of pressure on the toes, ball, arch and heel.
They can recommend various 'footbeds' (insoles) that support your entire foot, based on how your feet are supporting your weight. Try them out, and if the first pair of insoles don't work out as well as you hoped, go back and talk to them - they can set you up with a slightly different pair based on your results. I'm a RedWing fan, because 'making you comfortable' is their business. I think my boots were $145 and the insoles were $60, and worth every cent. Another route is ergomates - it is essentially a 'wearable' anti-fatigue mat that straps on to your boot.. My employer supplied a set for me to use, you can buy them for around $60 on line.

Danner's or Red Wings. Danner's has some sales every now and then.
I'm a big Salomons fan. You'd be looking for anything "GTX" as that is Gore-Tex and waterproof. |

I have four pairs of Danners and they are awesome boots that will last you 10-15 years or more. I also have three pairs of these I think you would be very happy with them.

Sorry, but this forum is for "Open discussions of firearm accessories and shooting related gear." Work boots aren't gun related.
