Obviously, with your gun's aluminum receiver, traditional touch-up chemicals for gun steel won't work. I'd stay away from auto paint, you'll be a lot happier with a gun-specific finish like Brownells' Aluma-Hyde for the whole receiver, or Birchwood-Casey's Aluminum Black for touch up work.

What a bother! Is it the spray cans that can't be transported to Canada, or what?

Long ago, I was surprised when I learned that Brownells catalog was free. But, I guess there are limits. Do you ever get down in the Lower 48?
Do they have the Dupli-Color line of auto paint up in NL? I'm concerned that anything you spray will fall prey to a gun solvent. I recently did an engine swap in my truck and used various hi-temp paints and some preformed well below the manufacturer's claims. Is the BW Aluminum Black liquid available in your area (are you on the island or mainland)? |
