Which V-V powder(s) would be the best all around choice for these loads? 1. 9mm: 115gr-125gr JHP & FMJ 2. .40: 135gr-155gr JHP & FMJ 3. 45acp: 200gr-230gr JHP & FMJ 4. 45acp: 200gr-230gr LSWC & LRN I'm trying to stay with one powder but I realize sometimes 2 burning rates are needed to maximize efficiency with different calibers/pressures. So, help me select the best powder(s). Thanks! ........... bk40 |

I'm sold on VitaVhouri powders. 340 would probably be my choice for only one powder for all three, though right now I've got 4 lb of 350 (along with some 110, 130 & 133). I use the 350 in loading 45. Never owned a 40 so i've never loaded for that.

Try N350 or 3N37 (I prefer 3N37)

I really like N340 for the 40. Seems to work well for all bullet weights. I have not tried N350 yet...

IMHO opinion N350 and 3N37 are too slow for effective use in the 45 and 40.
I have no experience with the 40, lots with the 10mm (da 10 be da ONE!!!). I would recommend N320 or N340 for 45 acp the faster powder with the lighter bullet. I you have to use one powder, N340 seems the most likely candidate. Be sure to follow the most recent VV data! Start at the recomended starting load and work up paying attention to accuracy and pressure signs. Even w/o signs do NOT exceed the maximums listed. ------------------ Ni ellegimit carborundum esse! Additionally N350 gave the highest velocity out of the 45 in the VihtaVuori book
