Pocket Holsters

I just got a Sig P 238 to carry as a pocket pistol.
I would appreciate any input as to who makes a workable pocket holster.

I know there's better out there, but I've been using a cheap Uncle Mike's for a couple years with my LC9 and have been happy with it.

The DeSantis Nemesis is a pretty solid holster and only costs about 25. I use one of those for a S&W 642, or one from High Noon holsters (I forget the model, but the one I have is all leather with sticky rubber on the outside). The leather one is a little bulkier, I have to wear thicker pants (jeans) to make it work.

Going from an Uncle Mike's pocket holster to a Desantis Nemesis with my LCP was the single most critical upgrade I've ever made to any of my carry setups. I can now draw, fire, and reholster much easier. It's a quality piece of kit and not very expensive.

Good choice, the 238 is a very nice little gun.

I also use the DeSantis Nemesis with my Ruger LCP. Superb pocket holster!

Sig themselves makes a perfectly decent pocket holster for the thing- it has a backing piece that obscures the outline of the gun while also helping keep the holster in the pocket when you draw.

Here is the High Noon pocket grabber. https://www.highnoonholsters.com/Pro...t_grabber.html

Honestly though, having used this and the Nemesis, you can't beat the Nemesis.

I would check out a "Recluse". Great customer service and a easy to draw holster.

My wife has a Remora for her P238. It can be used as a pocket holster, and it is also surprisingly stable as an IWB holster. My wife loves hers, and women have different needs in concealment, so she really appreciates the versatility.

I have a Nemesis for my G26. The Nemesis is fine, but the G26 is a chunk, so I use it only around the house, to the mailbox, once in a great while to the store if I am wearing cargo shorts. If I ever bugger the Nemesis up, I would probably go with the Remora for a replacement.

Someone actually did an online comparison of pocket holsters for the P238--you should be able to find it by Googling "P238 holster." Of the ones tested, the reviewer said the SIG factory pocket holster was the best, followed by the Uncle Mikes #3. Neither is expensive.

I can say my P238 fits well in my UMike's and draws well if I press forward as I pull from the pocket--the holster catches and stays in the pocket that way...the UMike's does add height and doesn't work well to conceal if you have pants with short pockets, because the holster doesn't drop deep enough.

I was intrigued by the Guru Pocket Holster I have seen online, but I haven't checked the price yet. it's leather and custom-made so likely more pricey. The Guru has a version with a fake top to the holster that looks like a zipped wallet--may be useful if like me you are worried about nosy types looking down into your pocket if you aren't wearing pants with deep pockets....

I have a one-sided Recluse for my LCP and I like it overall, its minimalist size and breakaway draw are useful. Leather and thus more expensive. I have also found that the short pocket where you put the muzzle marks a vertical line on the LCP's slide after awhile, which would be annoying on a nice piece like the P238. However I bet the Recluse for the P238 would have to be one of their two-sided models anyway.

These baby 1911s are easy for anyone to shoot well.

Consider whether you want a laser before you get the pocket holster.

I wish Sig or Colt would make the same gun shrunk just a little bit more in .32 ACP or even .22 long rifle. That way it would fit better in a back pocket and be superior to a Seecamp (which has no sights) as a bug.

Guru Pocket Holsters
I got one of these holsters. It's sturdy, stiff and well made. The front panel makes the package a bit thicker, but it's removable if you prefer. It is designed for the rear pocket, but it works in the front pocket as well.

I got this because there isn't much to pick from for the Micro Desert Eagle. I think the P238 has a lot more options.

I've had several Remora holsters, and they're good quality. I have had one for an LCP and J-frame, but currently have one for my CM40 and Glock 27.

They're like a Nemesis except they stay in the pocket MUCH better and the end is closed up which helps keep lent and junk off the muzzle end.

I too will be happy to recommend a Nemesis; have used it since I started carrying a PM9 almost 10 years ago ... have one for my new XDs, too, and a third for a Ruger LCR in .22mag I just got a few weeks ago ... also might take a look at Mika's, I have one for a j-frame I recently sold, very solid work ..
