I'm torn between buying an SBR as a package, or just SBR'ing my existing AR carbine.

The latter would make a certain amount of sense, given that it sports a switch-barrel upper, but either of the two packages above is a known quantity and relieves you of the hassle of messing around with port sizes and buffer weights and so on...
