Canadian Bear Hunt - is late May still a good time (pelt wise)

Hi,

Does anyone know if the black bears in Manitoba still have nice hides in late May? Or is their coat not as nice anymore by that time? Thinking this might be a once in a lifetime trip, and I've always wanted a bear-skin rug, so I'm hoping to make it worth-while...

Thanks everyone
