Dual "Muff" Pistols

I recently inherited these pistols and i was wondering if anyone knew anything about them. All I know is that they are called "Muff" pistols because i saw someone selling a pair of them on Auction Kings. The smallest bit of info helps. Thank You...

Looks like R. Scott is engraved on one at least, which I think was a British maker, the same family that later became part of the Webley & Scott company
