Need help converting for reloading

I use a Speer manual with an RCBS reloading system. My current manual does not have a hornaday listing in it. Remington and speer .223 reloading in the past I have used apporx 18.5 -19.0 grain black powder on a 52 grain bullet. My question is this: I currently have the following info on the label. .223 Cal., 55 Gr. PSP, Hornaday (I think it is part #665?) The Black powder I am using is Hodgdon H4198...help....I got these bullets since they were at a good price and did not realize they would not be in my book....ANY help would be appreciative..thanks guys!!!! girl loader in Virginia

Welcome Mailandx3. I think you are getting Black powder mixed up with smokeless. H4198 is smokeless powder. You should be fine to use the same bullet weight and profile of a different brand bullet than the one in the book and start at the starting load and work up. In my Speer manual H4198 is 19 grains start and 21 grains max for a 55 grain FMJ-BT. I use the Hornady bullets for my AR and do the same thing only with W748 and H335.

Nothing to forgive, we were all new reloaders at some point. Stick to the published data and if you have any questions ask before you continue. We are happy to help. Load safe and shoot often.
