Winchester WSF1=WSF?

My brother left me with an unopened can of Winchester Olin Super-Field AA WSF1 ball powder. I'm guessing its about 10 years old. I can't find any load data for it. He was using WSF1 for 12 guage loads. After massive internet searches I found a picture of the can at some dealer in Australia.

I noticed Winchester does make a powder today called WSF, and I wondered if it was the replacement for the same thing. Its supposed to be good for 9mm, which is what I was going to use it for.

I can't find any load data for WSF behind a 125 grain cast bullet.

If anybody can offer me any info, I would greatly appreciate it.

Data for WSF - 124 RN lead, assuming 9mm Luger? A little common sense and you'll have yourself a load.

I use WSF for 9mm and 4.2 grains works well for both 124 lead and plated round nose.

However, WSF is not a ball powder so you probably need to do some more digging to figure out if WSF1 is workable. I would not simply assume that it's the same.

Somebody on another forum stated that "1" in WSF1 indicated a 1lb canister, (along with WSF3 and WSF8). That make sense other than this powder container clearly says "Ball Powder" right under the Winchester label. Maybe I'll just reduce the starting load even more, and work up from there.

I stand corrected. It says that on the can I have here too. But it sure doesn't look like any other ball powder I've used.

I believe the 1 in WSF1 refers to the one pound size.
Great powder for 45acp.

Just thought I'd follow up. Started with 4.0 gr with both 125 gr cast bullets and 125 gr FMJ bullets, Fiochi Standard small pistol primers, and CCI mag primers. No noticeable difference in any of these loads. Most barely ejected, a few did not eject fully. Retried these same combos with 4.5 gr, gun functioned flawlessly, and all rounds appeared on the paper target in the same relatively tight group.

Why try mag primers? Because I have a lot of them and wanted to pretest in case I run out of standard ones.
