10/22 accuracy

I have a 10/22 that I did some work to recently. I free floated the barrel by modifyin the original wood stock. Everything else is original. I used a Bushnell 4x12 scope. I was shooting 1 inch groups at 50 yards with Remington Golden Hollowpoints. I was very happy with the results. What are you guys seeing with yours?

I installed tech-sights and a volquatzen hammer which lightens the trigger pull. I've never done anything off a bench at a set distance but I was able to keep my shots inside 1/2" at roughly 20 yards off hand.

Other than an aftermarket Hogue this one is factory.

I have a heavy target barrel and Hogue stock on this one.

A 10/22 will perform well regardless of almost any conditions.
A 20 yard target tells you nothing.
Put on whatever optics you want, bench rest to zero and enjoy.
BTW, mine also digests any ammo I put in it equally well without discrimination.

i had one stock 1022 that was awful, probably 3 inch group at 40 yards, didnt feel like working on it so i sold it. Got lucky at a recent estate sale and picked up a 1022 someone had customized with a bunch of Clarks goodies (bull barrel, trigger job, hogue stock), its good for under 1/2 groups at 50, hadnt had a chance to really play with it other than the initial sight in.

My 10/22 with just a Kidd barrel and Hogue stock rivals my savage 93 in 17 hmr for accuracy up to 100 yards.

I have 2- While I have never sat down and really went to work sighting them in-Shooting 1 inch at 50 yards is very easy with them. To many other rifles to shoot. They are mainly for my Youngest daughter to shoot when she comes with me.

1" at 50 yds with the factory barrel is pretty good, 10/22s with aftermarket barrels can do that or better at 100 yds.

I have toyed with the idea of decking them out. But they shoot anything i put in them and My Daughter can shoot primers out of shotgun shells from 25 yards with them, sooo. They both sport somewhere in the park of a $15.00 scope too. She gets a kick out of shooting them and i get a kick out of watching her. I try to talk her into shooting in kids matches, buy I think shyness kicks in and thats the end of it. She is one great shot. Proud of her very much. She is the boy i never had

1" at 50 with bulk ammo is great! As with above, aside from having the barrel replaced or reworked, you're right at about the level of diminishing returns. The can be made to shoot incredibly tight groups - but it starts to get spendy real quick.
