Dry firing perc
Is there a way you can dry fire a side hammer Percussion (Bobcat) and not harm the nipple or hammer? So far all I've done is hold the gun on my lap and pull the trigger with one hand and catch the hammer with the other. I'd really like to feel how the trigger is in firing position.

Get a lead ball, drill it to fit the nipple and voila, snap cap. If you want to get fancy, attach a chain to it and if there's a hole in the trigger guard for a swivel, hook it to there. BTW, the British Army did this with their P53 Enfields.
