A crappy day running and gunning is better than most anything that I can come up with.

sucks when you're out of practice. Shooting is also another perishable skill

My mind and dot are out of sync. I can't seem to control it and it just does what it wants. Perhaps its a confidence issue. Anyway, probably need to do some mental conditioning.

Ahhh! I'm finally getting my mojo back. That and you know the popular saying, "When the cat's away, the mouse come out to play". The usual suspects are shooting the USPSA Nationals and that gave me the opportunity to get up there. Anyway, I'll take it!

Was a great match and shot with a fun squad.

Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Those open guns are really impressive.
Yours looks like it has about the same muzzle rise as a rimfire.
They are amazing.
Yeah, I always figured on getting the best score of the season when the really good shooters are off testing their skills at a major match.
Good for the ego, at least until the next time.

I shot at my pace today getting my hits but not going at breakneck speeds. Came in 2nd behind TimR. Could have gone faster in some of the stages as it felt really slow, but I would probably be dropping lots of points. Will try to gradually speed up at the next match.

Much better. I tanked one stage (the barrels & ipsc targets) but managed to squeeze in 2nd. I shot with the match winner Nick and it was clear I was way-way behind on almost all the stages. I'm proud that I didn't let that get to my head though and I continued to shoot at my own pace.

Now if only I can remember to grip my gun tight. I keep forgetting to do so and my dot runs all over the place.

Final match of the season for Marysville as they shut down for the winter. Had a great time with a bunch of funnies in the squad. Weather was great albeit cold as heck. I think I shoot better in the cold. Came in 2nd behind NickH of course.

Also tried out the new Polaroid Cube camera instead of my usual Contour+ camera. It's a very small and pretty handy camera. It's not big and nerdy like the GoPro, yet still retains usable video quality. Audio sucks though, I prefer the Contour+ for that. All in all, for $100, I can't complain.

The magnet makes it very useful and easy to mount. I'll be switching to this camera for now till I find issues with it.

Fun fun match! IDPA Scoring hurts like crazy though. This was a charity match setup by the DownZero club here in Seattle. It is to promote Prostate Cancer Awareness. Did you know that Prostate cancer affects 1 in 6 men? and it’s deadlier than breast cancer?

if you’re over 40, do yourself, and more importantly, your family, a favor and schedule an appointment to have it checked.

Paul Bunyan Rifle Club runs a Toys for Tots match every year to support the Toys for Tots Foundation. This year they raised $1,511 in cash and a ton of unwrapped toys for kids. Find out more about this awesome charitable foundation at http://www.toysfortots.org

Finally have a few months of not shooting during the off season, I'm back at the range. It's rough as I haven't been very diligent at dry firing at home. At least I got to pull off a 2nd place performance. Great day for shooting I have to say. Excited for the rest of the 2015 season.

Pretty pleased with today's performance. I did choose to reshoot one classifier and it was definitely worth the money. I got a 100% on that one. So total haul today was two 100%, 98% and 95%. I think if my calculations are correct and if classifier calc is accurate, that would just tip me over 95% barely. 95.02%. we'll see what happens in a few weeks.

Had a total lack of confidence today taking unnecessary shots, pushing myself when I didn't have to. Shooting Open is such a mental game. Need to find my zen Consistency Consistency!

Gorgeous day for shooting though.

What can I say. It was raining for hours and we shot till almost 5pm! We were all soaked, tired and freezing. I couldn't feel my hands and for most of the stages, I couldn't even feel my trigger. Probably should have stopped for safety reasons. The stages were fantastic, the weather was not.

Guess what, it rained again in the Pacific Northwest. What a surprise. I should get used to it by now. It wasn't as bad as last week's match but still pretty wet. My gun had a few malfunctions because I didn't detail strip and clean it after the Marysville match. Rust has formed in the lockwork and mainspring housing. That'll teach me not to clean my guns properly especially after getting it wet.

It's clear I need more dry-fire practice. Lots of silly mistakes and my head isn't in it at all.

Not a bad match considering but still many stupid mistakes. Tagging no-shoots and not confident with my shots and that stupid Can You Count classifier! *bah*.

Just got back from this really fun match. Had a great time with good traveling buddies. The guys and gals in the squad were fun to shoot with too.

I shot so-so-ish as I did not actively push myself to go fast or do well. I mentally took this match as good alone/vacation time away from family and work. That sort of manifested in how I shot as well, like I was on vacation

A shooting buddy of mine told me a few times while video-ing me, he said “Loke, I’ve never seen you move and shoot this slowly before. what’s wrong?”. Looks like I need to speed things up and actively compete.

So, next match, watch out! My hair will be on fire!

Shot a fun match at my home range today. Despite all my "pains" and "injuries" I did somewhat decently. I have to stop tanking stages and get more consistency. Also took the opportunity to test a new 170mm magazine by mbxextreme.com. It worked flawlessly.

As usual, the squad I shot with did not skimp on providing laughter. Thanks guys for a great time!

Nice stages with a rare Rhodesian wall. It was fun but I screwed up three stages so didn't do that well score wise. Came in third behind the usual GMs. Now looking forward to Area 1 next week!

This year's Area 1 Championships was held in Idaho Falls and it featured 13 fun and varying stages. It wasn't super technical but it was a blast to shoot. Everyone had a chance to do well.

One of the stages (#10) got thrown out because of a rule misprint so we got to shoot it for fun. It featured a unique swinger mechanism that has two plates on either side to destabilize it. I believe it's called a Leo's Leaner. It's was fun to decipher and shoot.

I'm pretty happy that I had only three "Mikes" the entire match, I did however shoot somewhat slower than normal because of match pressure. I came in 10th Open, 4th Master behind an amazing array of fast and young shooters.

A Huge THANK YOU to Tim and crew who spent weeks planning and executing this match.

Shot a fun match today at Paul Bunyan. They have one of the best bays that have lots of long courses which are my fav. Came in 2nd place behind TimR AS USUAL but it's all my fault coz of mikes on 4 of the stages. Thanks to all the volunteers who help to set this match up till late last night. We shooters really appreciate it!

Came in 2nd place at the Marysville Slot Match. Had some screw ups as usual.

First time using my GoPro Hero4 Session at a match. This camera is easy to use and the video quality is top notch. The only issue is the slightly anemic audio when the gun goes off. Otherwise, the mic picks up speech pretty well.

Nice job.
What's a slot match?
A way for your club to choose candidates for the USPSA Nationals?
Pretty sure it's not about racing slot cars.
When I was active in this, choosing suitable candidates wasn't a problem.
The very few members who could spend the money and time to actually go got the slot.
