Whip it shotgun

What can you tell me about the "whip it" shotgun? I always took it as a Bonnie and Clyde Auto-5 cut down but when I google it i'm reminded of all the interesting gangster modified guns. Is it any shotgun that is cut down so you can "whip it" out from under a coat? I ask because I plan on filling out the paper work to shorten on of my shotguns. I think the Auto-5 would be the most interesting.

As I understand it, Clyde would cut the barrel shorter, and attach a leather strap to the top, rear of the butt stock so that it could be carried under his shoulder, under a coat and could be "whipped out" to be used...thus the name, "whippi [sic, "e"]t gun".
