Gun Movie: Tae Guk Gi

This is a Korean War movie told from the Korean perspective. Brutal fighting scenes. Lots of M1 Garands in use.

Plot is somewhat difficult (spoiler alert). The central plot is composed of two brothers who fight on the South Korean side. One is traumatized and later captured, and ends up fighting for the North, only later to redeem himself in a final climactic battle.

Saw that one back in 06 while riding the USS Cleveland back to the desert, been trying to track it down ever since, as I had no clue what the name was. Thanks for posting it, I think I've figured out what I'm doing tonight.

Good film, lots of kung fu fighting for a war film, though.

Some of it wasn't kung fu but straight out brawls. Those Korean war flicks have no shortage of action in them and there is plenty of M-1 goodness.

How about them M91/30's though?

This actor (Jin-Tae, can't remember his real name) has been in a few other very good Korean war movies, one of my favorites was "My Way". Very good movie.

My Way is intense, trying to keep track of how many concussions he sustained between getting butt-stroked and blown up is a challenge.
