.22s. Am I out of my mind?

Never have owned anything that shoots .22 rimfire, short, long, or LR, so I have had no idea how much ammunition would cost. The only thing I know is that they are cheap.

Recently I picked up an old Marlin 81 bolt action .22 for less than $100. Plan to fix it up for my boy. Just a minute ago I looked up the price of the rounds. My goodness gracious! The cheapest I could find was $0.15 a round. With that money I can load good 9mm. Is this for real?

You might be, but the shortage and high prices are well known and have been going on for well over a year. We also have a long running sticky thread on the issue... and this isn't a reloading topic either so....
