40 Round Magpul Gen M3 PMag Review

I've been using these mags for a couple weeks now and here's a quick rundown of the new 40 round Gen M3 PMag from Magpul...

Pros:

-100% reliable in all of my riles thus far.
-Compatible with HK 416, SCAR 16, SA80, MK 16, Tavor, ect...
-According to Magpul, more durable than Gen2 MOE PMags
-Same marking system as all Gen M3 PMags
-40 rounds is obviously cooler than 30 rounds
-Compatible with the Maglink

Cons:

-Firing from the prone
-They're tough to find currently
-Currently only out in black

Here's a video review with some shooting, a couple drop tests while loaded, and a discussion/demonstration of the pros and cons:

Too bad we can own them in Ohio, but can't insert them into a rifle... Dumb...

Indeed. I'd go with oppressive rather than dumb but I agree either way.

Were those brought to market so that USMC would buy them by the gazzilions, in order to feed the IAR automatic rifle? I'm guessing yes....

And why the heck did MagPul make their 20-round mags even bigger? I need to find more of the original MagPul 20-rounders since I just don't see the need for the ones that approach the size of 30-rounders.

I didn't even know anyone out there could even afford to shoot 40 rounds at one time I'll be glad when things get some what back to normal. While I do own 30 rounders, I perfer 20 rounders. Easier to shoot prone or at a bench and I dont have to load 40 rounds into a single mag

Agreed. Problem is the USMC banned polymer mags for the time being due to the IAR. Perhaps the Gen M3 mags will be given a pass eventually.

Glad to hear they work well, but then again, Magpul is usually good at making sure their stuff does indeed function (more than one can say for some of the >30 round mags).

I'll prob. pick one up eventually but I doubt I'll really use it much- like smee, I tend to prefer the 20 round mags.

These would be good for a squad support AR build for SHTF or TEOTWAWKI scenarios with the use of one of those bump-fire stocks out now.
