Is this a good deal on a Jap 99 7.7mm Arisaka

Hey all, I came up on this Japanese Arisaka type 99 7.7mm on gunbroker.com. Other than a coating of surface rust, it looks pretty good and complete. It does not have a matching numbered bolt. I am not sure how big a deal that is on Arisaka's. The bid price is $90.00.

I do not own one yet and want one for my Mil-Surp collection.

Here is the auction number

Auction # 158526374

Let me know what you all think...

The bold not matching wouldn't bother me as much as the stock being cut down.

Good examples are $200-300 now. Think I would wait till you can find one that hasn't been messed with locally and pay that rather than have a $150 parts gun which is about what you would have in this one with shipping etc. Plus, you would then need another stock.

So the stock cut was done by a civillian FUBAR and not by Japanese military ?

as a shooter, do you see any issues or problems with this one ?

Stock wasn't cut my the Japanese.

I would want it checked for headspace before I shot it since the bolt doesn't match. Also, the bolt is a late war version (the safety is the last "last ditch" version) while the rifle isn't.

Much better shooters out there in my mind. With the rust you could find some nasty surprises once you clean it up.

It's worth $90, but I'd wait for better condition, you can find them for $90 in better shape. Nice ones are $200 and up, and minty mums fetch $500 plus.

Pick up a nice bayonet if you can, they are harder to find in good condition, seems to me, if you're looking to spend $90 on a nice collectible.
