Hornady 7MM 139 Grn BTSP?
received my free bullets today from Hornady (1,000 for buying the LNL AP). This is the only bullet they offered in the 7mm. I have a 7mm Rem Mag Browning. Is this a good deer bullet for the 7 Mag? I usually use the larger 150-160 gr on deer. Mostly the Speer 160 BTSP. Anyone with experience with this Hornady bullet?

The 139 Hornady Interlock is a regular butt booter in either flatbase or boattail configuration in 7mm caliber. I loaded a bunch one year for my ex- BIL and he shot 3 deer with 3 shots the first year he used them. All were DRT and not one took a long step after being hit; ranges were from 60 to around 200 yards. He was shooting a Browning BLR in 7mm/08. They are a bit tougher than a Core Lokt, and really do the job. I loaded his ammo with 45.0 of WW 760 because of the lever action. Outstanding product in my book.

crowbeaner,
Thanks for your input. I have heard the same, but is either 7mm/08 or 280 Remington. I am wondering if they may be too light for 7 Mag. I use Re22, and am guessing on 140's about 67-69 gr as I use 65 for my 160 gr Speers. Unless, of course i load it light. FYI I even got the ones in the NEW purdy Hornady box. Nice packaging. I think the old style of red box has to be pretty dated. |

I've used the 139gr SST and 162 Hornady Interlock. Both SST and the regular Interlock are very good deer bullets. SST has been very strong. I think the main difference, if not the only difference, is the polymer tip.

139's will work just fine on deer. I loaded 140 Sierras for 30 years on top of a max charge of H-4831. Killed everything they hit.

I was shopping today at the local Sportsman Warehouse and seen that Hornady offers this load in 7 Mag. Might be good afterall.
They are closing the store here. EVERYTHING is going. 15% off now on firearms. |
