Is $550 a good price for one of these? LGS has one, and while I've never really liked the AR platform at all, it might be worth a shot. And can you shoot 5.56 in them?

What's accuracy @ 100 yards like with the stock Irons? Are they adjustable for windage and elevation without tools? Do they hold zero after flipping up/down?

What's accuracy @ 100 yards like with the stock Irons? - Depends on the shooter. Its a rare individual who can hold groups as tight as the rifle is mechanically capable of using iron sights. Heck, its not an easy thing using a scope either.
Are they adjustable for windage and elevation without tools? - Yes Do they hold zero after flipping up/down? - Yes The rear flip sight is a Magpul, no issues with mine.

If I did get one, the most I would do would be mounting an ACOG. Probably sticking with Iron sights mostly.

I'm planning on leaving iron sights when I get mine. Might put a reflex sight on and co-witness it with the irons, but that's about it. Kentucky Gun Co has them for $540 at the moment, that's where I'll be picking mine up from. Will end up being $580 after transfer which is still darn good.

So, I ended up going the build route, albeit very basically. Here's what I'm ā€¯building"...
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...category/4220/ http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...category/4284/ Amazon.com : Magpul Gen 2 MBUS Rear Flip Sight, Black : Hunting And Shooting Equipment : Sports & Outdoors Ends up at around $610 before transfer, more than I wanted to spend but the deal on the MP15 expired and spec wise it is better on paper. |

if anyone is in VA
If anyone lives in VA make your way up to Dulles Expo in Chantilly and grab a Sport, I bought mine today at $499 (I think 520-530) after taxes. Unless you're out in the desert fighting off bad guys and don't ever clean your rifle the M&P 15 Sport is all you need.
