Shooting unlubed lead bullets
It seems like every time I buy 1000 lead bullets, 4 or 5 of them are not lubed. I have 6 unlubed bullets sitting on my bench, and I was wondering if I should go ahead and load them, or just put them away.
What are the consequences of shooting a small amount of unlubed bullets? B.T.W., Im shooting 200gr LSWC in a 45 auto. |

I keep a bottle of Lee Liquid Alox around for such encounters. I usually go ahead and put a coat on any cast bullets I shoot whether lubed or not. I don't know if it helps but it sure doesn't hurt.
I've heard that if you get a lubed bullet down the pipe it will leave enough residue behind to keep an un-lubed bullet from leading. I don't KNOW if this is true but it makes sense. All the Best, D. White |

Anyhow, I clean my barrel every time I shoot (I usually shoot 200-250 rounds per session). For what it's worth, I shoot an M&P40 with 155gr SWC from Meister Bullets–great bullets, excellent service–I highly recommend them. |

I load them too. A couple of unlubed bullets is not going to cause leading; and why waste good bullets?
