THE ONLY JAM ON A SIG 226 MUST BE GRAPE OR STRAWBERRY.
THE DARN STUFF IS VERY STICKY. |

Ruger P95. Ugly? Betcha! But it kind of grows on you......
Also eats ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I feed it - and even when dirty has been every bit as reliable as any piece in the preferred "six-for-sure" collection. Lets face it - one can always spend more. Lots more! But I don't have that kind of money and this little guy will do everything that I need it for, and then some. |

GregM said it...third generation S&W...I know, I know, not too "PC" around here, but...I've got a Model 915...you know, the hi-cap "budget" equivalent of the 5906...about 3,500 rounds downrange, including some VERY NASTY RELOADS AND some "Military Surplus" of questionable origins...not a single "jam" or malfunction OF ANY KIND!!! Only other autopistol I own that's been THAT RELIABLE is a series '70 Combat Gov't...but only AFTER it got Jim Stroh's "reliablity package"...and the 915 is "Box Stock" except for a set of Millett sights!!!....mikey357

Whats the most reliable 9mm
My Ruger P95DC is a Tank. I have shot hundreds of rounds of ammo through it with out a jam or any kind of malfunction. It is accurate and a very reliable pistol. I love my pistol. I have many friends and family who own Ruger pistols and they love them. I don't think I have ever heard of them having a any malfunctions of problems at all. I highly recommend Ruger Pistols.

I have owned my Glock 19 since 1989 and it has never jammed that I can recall. Never failed to go bang when I pulled the trigger. I have no idea how many rounds have gone through that pistol, but I shoot about 100 rounds through it at the range everytime I go, and have been going to the range twice a month on average. You can do the math. I guess one of these days it will wear out, but so far the energizer bunny has nothing on this thing.

Many, many rounds through a S&W 5906 and Glock 19. The only malfunctions I can recall were when I was using a USA brand magazine with my Glock. I used to own a Kahr K9, and had multiple malfunctions with it. I also had a few with an older S&W 59.

I used to think my CZ 75 was pretty unstoppable but it jammed on me 4 times tonight .
In its defense, I was shooting weak range reloads, I just installed a stiffer spring, and I had shot 200 rounds through it without cleaning. I swabbed the barrel down and lubed the slide, it didn't jam after that . |

I will agree with all the posts regarding the reliability of the ruger. Excellent weapon and no problems to speak of. Personally I love my Browning Hi Power Practical. Several thousand rounds and maybe one or two mis-fires due to my own error in reloading. Beretta is also a good choice in 9mm. L.A. Sheriff's Dept. carried them for years without a hitch. You might want to check out your local shooting ranges and rent several guns to find one that you like. Try before you buy. Good Luck.

From personal experience and discussions with others :
1. The Beretta 92FS AND 2. The Sig P239 in 9mm For the record I've had the use of the relatively new Sig P245 and it was a jamamatic. Four failures to extract in a box of 50 rounds. Mike H |

Ruger p95
I have to agree with some of the other posts on the Ruger p95.
Mine eats anything I feed it and is very reliable. The only issue I have ever run into is they WILL jam after they get hot if you use one of the cheap after market clips (ie. Promag). The clips that come with it NEVER jam, and even the promags will work most of the time. I highly recommend this gun! |

Those darn Sigs, so unreliable!
In fact, they are so unreliable that the Navy SEALs are issued them, over Berettas. Yeah, Sigs suck. :barf: There are many excellent 9mm pistols from many makers. Don't let one random experience turn you off. Sigs have an excellent record (along with Glocks, maybe Berettas , etc.). |

It's a fine gun. Not to say that it won't ever jam again. Jamming is something always has a slight chance of happening. If you want to get a gun that is REALLY unlikely to jam, get a revolver, fewer things can go wrong with them. But if you prefer automatics, the Sig is as good as any and better than most. |

Whats the most reliable 9mm
I bought a STAR 30MI, in 1993. I've put about 700 to 800
rounds through it without any problems. I don't think they make them anymore, though. Just my two cents. |

Ruger and Glock. Glock or Ruger. Ruger/Glock. Can't go wrong. Homely? You bet. But they Work.

If you properly maintain and clean a SIG - ( mags and gun) I doubt it would jam on you like that. However, that's also why we practice clearing malfunctions. I have a variety of SIGs and I can't remember the last time one of them jammed ... but it can happen ( and so do any semi-autos from time to time).
My favorite 9mm is a Wilson Combat Protector Stainless model .... it's a great gun ( but 9mm is not my favorite defensive round ) I will usually opt to have a .40 S&W or a .45 ACP as my primary defensive gun / or a revolver in .357 mag. 9mm is great for range practice - but it does not always put an intruder down with 1 or 2 rounds ....... |

Wow, this thread was pretty deep before being dug up again.
Since my post in 2000, I had taken a few folks out to the range one time including my sister (who doesn't shoot much). Using my trusty SIG P226, the gun had jammed on her a number of times. When trying to find the problem, I had run a mag through without a problem. The source was that she was limp wristing it.

92FS: 7,000 rds, one failure.
Howdy,
Not counting a bad primer on a CCI Blazer, I've had one failure from my ultra-reliable Beretta 92FS. FWIW, I bought it used. I use only Beretta mags and trust my life with it. Also, I've yet to replace any part on this pistol. Eats anything, too. Larry C. PS: I've also heard great things about the Glock 19's reliability, and had zero problems with a Sig P220 some years ago. Last edited by Larry C.; May 5, 2007 at 06:41 PM. |

I have a Beretta M9 and a Ruger P-94. The 94 is in .40 cal but I have complete confidence in the Ruger Pseries pistols. "Tank" is the absolute best word to describe them.
My Beretta M9 is a very trust worthy pistol. If I had to chose between the two and money wasn't a huge deal, I'd go with the Beretta (much higher magazine capacity). If you are on a budget , you should be shopping with Ruger no matter the caliber.

From the beginning, I owned CZ75,BHP,Beretta 92FS/C,P226,Walther P99,P226,P229,P228,CZ75C,Jericho941FB,P226,HK P2K.
All were in 9mm. All were completely reliable. Some of them have different kind of issues other than reliability cauesed me to get rid of them. Now, my oldest P226, CZ 75, and HK stay with me. Best. |
