Cleanest Burning Powder for 9MM?
I'm looking for the cleanest burning powder for 9mm loads for my (gas operated) H&K P7.
Any suggestions?

I like Hodgdon Universal Clays, I use it alot in that pistol. Definitely one of the cleanest powders.
Strictly speaking, the P7 is not gas operated, it uses gas piston to retard the action. |

I find of all the powders that I have used for 9mm, 231 is the cleanest.
I have had cases that the inside was surprisingly clean after shooting. Titegroup is the last powder that I would use if I was looking for "cleanest". I have loaded some 147 lead in 9mm with Titegroup that were the most accurate hand loads that I have ever made for an auto, but clean they were not. |

Any of the faster powders will burn more cleanly than the slower ones. There is less to burn..................even the "new" version of Unique............

I never had any problems with any of my (six) P7s from any type of powder.
However, if the bullet has any lead exposed to the burning powder (as many "FMJ"s do) I have had stoppages due to vaporized lead ending up in the gas piston and binding up the works. Unfortunately, I have had that happen more than a few times with factory ammo. If you buy a box, pull down a round and find that it is TMJ or plated with only copper facing the fire, you are good to go. |

I have tried powders from just about every manufacture and VihtaVuori powders are the cleanest across the board. N310 is the one I like for 9mm but N320 is also good.
