I have used 130 gr Nosler Partitions for years and never had a problem killing deer. I just loaded some Nosler Partitions in 150 gr and took them to the range. As I expected the 150's shot about 2" higher at 100 yards but still sub-MOA out of my Tikka T3 Lite. Years ago when I had a Remington Mountain Rifle it loved 100 gr Sierra's for Woodchucks.

270 my favorite rifle

I've tried a few different bullets in my .270, and it likes 130 grainers best, but accuracy with 140 grain bullets wasn't bad, it's just that the 130 grners shot extremely well.
I'm also trying the Barnes TTSX 130 grain bullets with the same powder charge as the 130 grain Accubond, it shoots to the same poi, me likey.
I wanna try some lighter bullets through it but haven't decide what it will be.

As mentioned in these posts, it depends on what your .270 rifle likes. My first rifle was a Remington Model 700 BDL - couldn't get anything close to an inch group no matter what I did. 90-100-130-140-150 gr from Remington, Speer, Nosler, Hornady, Barnes. Finally burned the barrel out, got a new one from Remington and this baby only likes Hornady 150gr Spire, routinely goes under 1 inch. Won't do anything close with 140 or 130 gr.

I have a Sako which is good enough for hunting but never goes under an inch. It does best with Remington 150gr Cor-loks.

I have a Win Model 70 with a Boss that gave me a 1-inch group of 3 shots at 200 yards with Hornady 130gr SS.

I developed a load in my son's Model 70 that gave a 3-shot, 100 yard group measuring 0.32" with Speer 130 gr.

I've never had an luck with any 140gr bullet in .270 from the manufacturers listed above.

I tried a cast 78gr that someone gave me a long time ago and it hit the ground about 100 feet to the left so I never played with that one anymore.

When I think of a .270 win the next thought that comes to my mind is 130 grain bullet, its been the most popular weight bullet for the .270 as long as I can remember

I guess I was lucky with the .270 I got. IT is an off the shelf Rem 700, and it has digested everything I have put through it. The worst groups it has ever printed were with the Barnes original X bullets and even with those it nly took some seating depth corrections to get into 1" or less groups.

I have tried weights from 110 up to 170 with it and while the heaviest didn't shoot quite as well as some, they were sure nuff good enough to hunt with.

That said, I have other rifles which about have caused me to loose religion. Simply no reason they shouldn't shoot standard weight bullets but they simply don't want to cooperate. I have found good loads, but they didn't come easy at all.

My ruger m77 270 loves most 130 grn bullets, but the most accurate load I've found is a 110 grn v-max. And it is outstanding on coyotes.

The 270 uses the same twist rate (unless its an odd one) as the 30-06 (1-10)

Frankly that favors bullets in the 175 gr range.

Throw that all aside though and its velocity and powder and the rifle.

You gun will shoot differently than our guns. Some combos work better than others generally and that's all we can offer.

You have to try it in your gun and see

My CZ550 shoots both well depending on the actual projectile. 150 gr Nosler Partitions group inside an inch @100.

IMO, it has a lot to do with the profile (shape) of the projectile.

Mine seems to shoot most things from between 0.5 to 1.25 moa at 100y, including from the 90g Sierra HP to the 160g Partition.

The 130 Speer Hot Cor over 56.5g of AR2209 at 3100 fps shoots half inch 3 shot groups. A good allrounder that one.

Pleasantly, the 130g loads shoot to the same POI as my 150 and 160g loads, 6cm high at 100y, or very near to it.

For some reason I have never gravitated towards the 140g bullets.
