50 AE reload data ?

Does anyone have any data for loading down the 50 AE ?

I just got back my Blackhawk conversion and can't find any data for something around 800 fps. I don't want to have to use the nuke loads all the time !

I had a back issue of American Handgunner that Taffin had some data in, but of course I can't find it now.

Speer #13 has some good reloading data specifically for revolvers. With the exception of W296 and H110, I don't see why you can't download some of the minimums til you get what you want. Sort of like the opposite of working up a load.

pahrumpcaveman (interesting handle),

The conversion was done by Gary Reeder - I can't say enough good things about him !!
Quoted 6 months - got it in 5 !!!!!!!!! and on budget !!!!
5 shot cylinder, .50 bbl, Belt Mtn. base pin, steel grip frame, nice trigger pull, nice blue job, and VERY cool - cylinder turns either way with the loading gate open.

Tried 8 & 10 gr 231 behind a cast 385 gr LBT - good load, like a warm .45 Colt. Also loaded up some speer 325 gr HP with 30 gr 296 - WOW !!! Lots of recoil, BIG ball of fire out the muzzle......Thats the "wuffo" load........"wuffo you got a 50 cal Blackhawk?".............Answer - "Cause nobody makes a .60 !!" (yet).

Ya I got a 454 casull that I loaded up with 32 gr 296 under a 300 gr Speer bullet . Velocity is a little over 1500 fps ( according to speer manual ) and It has a VERY abusive recoil . That 50 AE is right in the same ball park with a much lower cup pressure . I wonder if the recoil is much lighter due to this lower pressure ? How much was the conversion ? A 50 AE might be fun to have also . ( Pahrump is the town I live in and caveman is and old CB handle .)

I thought about a 454, but thought punching half inch holes in things would be cool.
Thought about it even more when I found out Bowen and Leinbaubh charged ~$1500 for a conversion. Finally hooled up with Gary Reeder who did it for $800.
I about █████ when he called a month early to say it was done.

Now that I have it, I see why he is being written up so much lately in the mags !!!

The hot loads recoil is right up there with my 45-70 Contender. Going back to the range today with the chrono.
