Help with finding bank name,

Am new to the firing line, but have been involved with guns since my dad first took me hinting. Reloaded for quite a few years but stuff is now put away waiting to be brought back out. It was one of the fun things I use to do and all 3 of my boys grew up knowing how to shoot. They would shoot squirrels and give them to Gramma for a good squirrel dinner.
I am trying to find the name of the bank that use to advertise in some of the gun magazines where you could invest, get a gun and then when the time frame was up you got your original amount of investment back.
I think the banks were in Michigan or Minnesota but can't remember. I do not know if the program even exists but would like to find out. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Nahani

[Edit: If I were you, I'd open a new thread in the General Discussion forum for that question. - Bud Helms]

Hello all,

I am new to TFL, but I have enjoyed most everyone's input so far. I am 35 years old, married with no kids. My better half recently moved us from the great state of Mississippi to the socialist republic of Illinois and I may never forgive her.

Fellow Gun Owners and Shooters

I'm from upstate New York.

I cast, load, and shoot; even take a deer once in a while. Maybe I can learn something from the experience of all of the members.

Hello everyone. I am Duane C, grew up in Kansas and mostly Nebraska, hence the Huskerguy name. Lots of bird hunting for years and some deer hunting. Wife and I shot quite a bit until we had kids, well she actually had the kids, I just watched. Did some reloading over 25 years ago and just got all my stuff out and can't remember everything and a great deal has certainly changed. I have two brothers in law who are gun fanatics and have massive collections. I am just now getting back in to and it is a blast - very expensive, but a blast. I am in school administration and specialize in taking on schools or colleges in trouble so I haven't had time to do anything for the past 10 years and man I miss working with powder, bullets, and cleaning guns. This site is wonderful and even if I don't get home until late at night I have to check it. It is right after I check Nebraska football, Boston Red Sox baseball and then this. Sorry but those are passions as well. Any help in the reloading is greatly appreciated. By the way I am a very young and fit 55 with a wonderful wife, two grown and successful kids and I live smack dab in the center of Kansas and serve a great God and live in a wonderful country.

guns for investments

Hi, I am new to the firing line. I have been involved with guns from a young age and was introduced to hunting by my dad, when he took me out woodchuck - rabbit hunting. I learned to not shoot animals unless there was a reason and my family had many woodchucks for dinner. I also learned how to cook them from my mom.
Some years back there use to be an ad in some of the gun magazines, where you could put money into a bank CD, get a gun in return and after a certain period of time you would get your money back minus the interest that money would of brought.
Can anyone tell me if that program is still going? I think that the banks were located in Minnesota or Michigan. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

New member just wanting to say hi

I'm a new member from Tennessee. I found your forum while researching my S&W 65-1. I am very new to guns and this is only the second gun I've ever owned and the only one I currently own. I am interested in learning more about them and this site keeps popping up in my google searches, so thanks for everything. I hope that I can be an active member of the online community.

I've included a few pictures of my 65-1 which I throughly enjoy and keep for home defense loaded with powerballs.

There it is with wooden grips and one with rubberized grips

People keep offering to purchase this particular handgun, does it have some sort of history. I'd love to learn more about this gun if anyone can share some information it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank again.

Hello all,

Grat site you all have here. I live in Wyoming, been here for 25 years after growing up in Utah and TX.

I've been around guns all my life I guess. I just took up reloading in the past month however after telling myself for the last 35 years that it was something I needed to do "when I got the time". Well, after watching the prices and availability of ammo in the past 6 months, I decided that the time was definitely now!

I've finally assembled everything I need to start reloading 357/38 and 45 Colt ammo now (yes, I even managed to find primers!!) But I'm still eagerly scouring the internet in hopes of picking up tips on reloading, rather than duplicate all the same mistakes.

Besides the 357 and 45 Colts (no I'm not a Cowboy Action Shooter, I just love shooting single action revolvers), I have a 44 magnum S & W that I absolutely love. And then the "normal" collection of rifles that everyone in Wyoming has, like the 243, a 308, a 7 MM mag, a 45-70, a 30-30 as well as a few 22's and shotguns. Perhaps one day I will be reloading for all those as well, but for now I'm just learning with the 357 and 45.

Hello. I am new to this forum but not to firearms. I am a firm believer that this world is a world full of many firearm "OWNERS" but not many firearm "SHOOTERS." I have had my fair share of owning and shooting many different kinds of firearms. My knowledge of firearm mechanism operation and engineering is not very vast, nor is my knowledge of ballistics or reloading; however, I excell in proper shooting techniques, tactics, stances, target acquisitions, etc. I believe practice makes perfect when it comes to shooting skill, but the type and condition of the weapon you are shooting also plays a major role in the art of shooting. Shooting, owning, collecting...everything that has to do with firearms is to be "HOO" of. Even though this introduction has made me seem cocky, I am open to all kinds of suggestions and new knowledge. This day in age, there is no such thing as "all knowing." Every person has the capacity to learn more and should take advantage of that. I learn something new all the time...and I always thank and acknowledge those that help me do it. I look forward to learning, teaching and contributing on these message boards in the future.

btw, my favorite guns are Yugoslavian AK variants, 45-70 caliber rifles, Glock 10mm's and 9mm's, .480 Ruger caliber revolvers, Smith and Wesson model 629's, Beretta model 92's and oh so much more that I dare not attempt to type out.

Hello all! I am new to this forum and gun's in general. I am from Michigan in the Detroit area. I am 23 turning on to 24 very soon. I would like to learn as much about CCW laws, Guns, and anything else I should know about. I just purchased my first handgun, a Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal. It's a beauty and shoots great! I just purchased rubber grips today since Sig's aluminum grips are crap IMO.

Greetings,

Got registered today and decided to intrduce myself. I'm new to the forum, but not to shooting - I began with my dad and a .22 rifle when I was about 4. I'm now 35, and occasionally still get the old man out. I currently own a Ruger Target Master .22, stainless with target (bull) barrell, HK Mark 23, Beretta M92SF (stainless) and a Colt L.E. 6920 AR tricked with a KAC RAS (non-free-floating), GG&G one-point sling mount and a 4X32 A.C.O.G. to top it off, that sits in a 4Xdos LaRue mount. I don't really have a favorite, but probably would lean toward the AR and the Mark.

I'm considering an AR build in 7.62X51 which brings me to this forum for possible purchase and information. I camp out over at AR-15.com and M4carbine.net sometimes, which are both full of good info. for AR-15/AR10 style black rifles. I'd ultimately like to end up with something to resemble the Army's all-popular M110 Single Action Sniper System/Mark 11m Mod 0 (Navy version) that is made by KAC. If I do take on a build, my preference would be to build from an Armalite upper/lower (with forward assist), but would also consider DPMS parts.

I've lived in the same town in KS all my life, with the exception of college years. I look forward to information learned here and getting to know some of the other members.

Marty

That, my friends, is why Alaska should be leading the nation. I'm not brand new to these forums, but forgot the basic good manners of introducing myself. I am a retired IDF officer and Chemist. I'm now dabbling in a "hobby job" designing and selling cases for Uzis and AR15s.

It's great to find fellow enthusiasts here in TFL.
