Illinois & Chicago gun laws
I think what really bothers me about the gun laws in Illinois and especially Chicago is that there is a lot more they could do to deal with actual criminals who use guns. But they really don't. There are so many examples of arrests where weapons are recovered but the weapons charges hardly ever make any significant impact on the case or the sentencing of the criminal.
On the other hand, Chicago will expend millions of dollars in legal fees, time & energy trying to crucify a guy from Indiana who was passing through the city with his gun in a closed & latched arm rest compartment in his car. |

It is a lot easier and safer to go after ignorant, or negligent law-abiding citizens than street-wise, violent gangs and criminals.
My daughter and SIL just moved to IL and were dismayed at having to get a FOID card just to own guns and then how long it took for them to arrive. A citizen should not have to get permission from the State to own a firearm.
