J&G Sales -- Any feedback on them?

Saw this ad:

http://www.jgsales.com/product_info....ts_id/4120?SID

The price seems too good to be true. Does anybody have any experience buying from this place, and/or buying these "police trade in" guns? Thanks,

DogoDon

P.S. Just noticed there is a J and G Sales thread, but it doesn't answer the question about price and whether it's too good to be true.

Never had a problem with them, bought from them at shows when I lived in AZ, and bought several firearms from them since.

J&G is a reputable outfit. I've ordered from them before. That is a good price, better jump on it.

Maybe those S&W 64 are low-priced because they have been modified to be DAO (because they were police duty guns).

Would it be hard or expensive to convert one of them back to SA/DA? Maybe it would be cheaper to just buy a non-modified 64?

I worked for J&G a few decades ago when they were wholesale only... they're good guys.

I think a new/mint model 67, 4" stainless runs about $525-$600.

Chances are, other than holster wear, these guns (like most police trade-ins) are in excellent condition internally. A quick inspection/lube by a revolver 'smith and you'd be good to go.

Cheers,
C

Good to deal with

I have bought a few rifles, parts, and ammo from them. Every thing was fast and as presented.

J&G shipped fast!

I ordered a used S&W 67 from J&G Sales last Wednesday, March 24th. They emailed me the next (Thursday) night saying the gun had been shipped to my local gun store. The gun store called me on Saturday to tell me it had come in.

I haven't gone to pick it up yet, but when I do, I'll come back and post further.

That's pretty fast service! Kudos to J&G. Now if the gun is in good shape, I'll be completely satisfied.

I started doing business with them in the late 60s. I never had a complaint.

I wish I had back a few of the Victory model Smiths I bought from them for $39.95!

Back then they were J&G Rifle Ranch, if I remember correctly.

I picked up the S&W 67 today. Haven't had a chance yet to give it a good going over, but at first glance it appears to be in the advertised "very good plus" condition. The cylinder is nice and tight. Trigger feels good. PLus it has Hogue Monogrips, which I had not expected.

The only real negative is that it appears the gun was dropped on the rear sight, and the top corner of one of the sight blades is crushed down somewhat. It doesn't appear to have affected the alignment (and in any case the rear sight is adjustable), so it's no biggie.

Overall (not yet having shot it), I'm very pleased so far.

Seems like the DOA thing would make it not worth it imo.

It's a DAO. But to me that's fine. Plus, it's not that hard to convert it back to SA/DA if I wanted to someday.

Here are a couple of (pretty poor) photos of the 67. Despite the lack of focus in the second one, you can still see how the top outer corner of one rear sight blade is crushed. That's the only significant cosmetic defect on this gun. Functionally it seems to be very good.

I suppose I always have the option of replacing the rear sight, but first I want to take the gun to the range to see if it's an issue at all.

J&G sucks!

They have too much stuff for me to waste my money on!!

Between them and CDNN I am broke each month!!!

Just give them your CC and have them send you something each month.
