Which scope?
For a blackpowder gun would you rather have a 3x9x40 with a traditional reticle or a 2x7x33 with a heavy duplex reticle? What if you might transfer the scope to a 30-30, which scope then?

well, all i use is a plain 4 power scope.thats all you need really for a smoke pole.you figure you will most likely only going to shoot about 150 yrds with a muzzeloader.i know, they may shoot farther but on the average though.

A nikon prostaff 3x9x40 it will be! This is only because my other scope can't seem to handle the recoil.

I have a 3x9x40 simmons on my bp rifle and it does a fine job. Ive never actually used a magnification over 4x to shoot with in the woods, but I like being able to zoom in on stuff at the target range, plus if I see movement in the woods I can zoom in to get a closer look and then zoom back out for the actual shot. This scope would work well for a 30-30 also.
