Thank you sir! I'll keep y'all posted, "Video" at Coal Creek Armory (now Tactical Advantage Corp.) is pretty sharp on his M14s so I'm going to run it down to him tomorrow and see what the verdict is.

Tucker, your Connector Lock Pin is the correct length for standard stocks.
The Blackfeather "RS" requires that you shorten the pin so that it is flush with the receiver.

Thanks SR420,
Can you confirm whether or not the longer pin means I have a USGI receiver? *I bought the rifle new in 2010 so I was under the assumption that it had zero genuine USGI parts.

You don't have a USGI receiver.
Standard length pins are available from a few different sources. Springfield will use what they have, USGI or reproduction. Smith Enterprise makes a hardened steel version of the full length pin. All Norinco & Poly Tech M14s come with the short pin, and they are used on bedded M1As.

Well dang, thought there might have been an upside to that. I was going to have a gunsmith install the ORG anyway so I'm running it down to him here in the next half hour or so.
Thanks for all the help y'all, I'll post pics when it's all said and done!

This owner used his Dremel. I would have marked & removed the pin to cut it.

So while the action is at the 'smith I figured I'd post a pic of what I'm holding onto until it's done... Please overlook the fact that someone forgot to buy a buffer tube castle nut...

Thank you sir! It balances a little front heavy so I may get a heavier stock like a UBR one day but for now I'm pretty dang happy. Thanks to everyone who posted for talking me out of buying that SCAR!

I don't know for sure, I'd have to remove the scope, it appears so at first glance though.

There is one thing I'm a little concerned about, when I dropped the action in the stock it rocked back and forth some, I tightened the ORG down first and then snapped in the trigger group but there seems to be a significant gap in between the handguard and the stock, is that normal?

The gap is normal, but there should not be any movement of the action.

Ok that's good to know. The OD green came out a lot lighter and shinier than I expected, once I get a new handguard I think I might have the stock cerakoted.
