bad? model 94

I am seeking information about a certain serial number range for 30 30's that may have been made in Japan and may lack quality. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know how/where you came by that impression, but it's in error.

There have been a few limited production Winchesters that are produced in Japan, such as the Models 95, 1885, and 92 - but the Winchester Model 94 was always produced in the US. So far.

There HAVE been complaints of poor quality Model 94's from some quarters - involving mostly what's generally referred to as "post-64's", meaning rifles made starting in 1964 when the factory made several cost-cutting changes that didn't sit well with enthusiasts.
Most of the "post-64" ills were resolved with the internal changes of 1971 - up until the lawyers got involved in the 80's (safties, etc).
