Im getting a new shotgun soon but I dont know what
one to get. Here are my choices, a Remington 870 or a Winchester 1300. I will be mainly shooting skeet and small game bird. What one do you guys think I should get? |

The differences between the major brands as to reliability,
durability, and performance are kinda moot,GF. I'm an unabashed 870 fan, but would regard myself as well armed with the Winchester or Mossberg equivalent. I suggest shooting all three, then going with whatever feels best. I do believe the 870 is the most durable, but the difference for most folks is whether your grandchildren or great grandchildren will argue over who gets it. |

Dave McC is right - go with the 870-it's one of those 10-15 guns that you've got to have....Plus the only accessory that's not available for them is dual four barrel carbs...i personally have a supercharger on mine..All kidding asside a 28" 870 with Rem chokes will do it all-even shoot 3" shells....Dick

Rem 870 is a great gun, no doubt.
However, if you are just getting into skeet, you don't want a pump, trust me. An autoloader or over-under or side-by-side is definately the way to go. You just won't have time to cycle it for the second shot. Granted, really good shooters can and do shoot pumps for skeet from time to time, but they have years of experience, and are skilled at the sport. For beginners like you and me, we'll find it much less frustrating not to have to worry about cycling the gun as you try to line up your second bird. |

Bennelli, Mossberg, Winchester, Ithica.......
the list goes on.......... just get one of each and be done with it.
