FMJ vs JHP and a little 22-250 ammo talk

I am talking about 22-250 here, i have been to a few local sports stores and all i can find is JHP in large quantity, and the price isn't to bad, I wish it was cheap at .223. But i'm having a a harder time finding the FMJ.

last thing i found was Hornady V-Max 40 grn. which i love because i usally shoot a little bit tighter than the JHP. why?

and since i'm talking about this. what grain do you guys prefer with the 22-250. I usually shoot the 40 grn, its just more abundant from what i have found. But i like shooting the 55 grn, just seems a bit hotter. your thoughts?

AND as far as target impact, what are the big difference between the JHP FMJ, Vmax, nosler ballistic tips etc.....

thanks

I like 52gr. Sierra Game King, Match King,55gr is about the biggest bullet for standard rifling. I like Varget powder with these bullets. Heavier bullets are less wind sensitive. Hollow point, ballistic point perform about the same with the hollow point probably holding it's weight a little better for more penetration.

Another 52 Grain fan here. The length of the 52gr SMK is just about perfect for a 1;14 twist/1;12 twist barrel at those speeds(35-3800fps).

I reloaded when I was living on post in the army so not having a range is no excuse.

Now I am retired and have a good 200M in the yard and 2 600yard ranges close by.............Life is good

By The Way.......I like 52 gr BTHP in ALL 22 center fires except the hornet and a ar I have set up for heavy bullets. I load for let see 9 guns

223-Rem 700 PSS
223 AI- Rem 700 V
22-250-Rem 40X
223 in a T/C contender
220 swift(2 guns) a Ruger #1 and a Ruger M77KVT
221 fireball- XP-100

I get the bullets by the 1000 when I buy them.

Another good bullet is a A-Max 50 Gr. It works good also but the old 52gr BTHP is the king with me

I have a 22 CHeetah in a old Rem 700 action but it is set up for long bullets also 77-80gr VLDs
