Small lot, no more than 50 Wipe

Any more than 50, tumble with walnut shell and a couple tablespoons of mineral spirits.

Well, if they are not primed already....then throw them in the tumbler.

My condensed version of reloading.

Handgun....
Seperate brass with shellshorter trays
Polish brass
Sort brass by head stamp, look for defects, and check head stamps (get rid of AMERC)
Store brass in ready to load state.

Rifle
Clean brass but not polish this avoids imbedding crap in the die wall.
Lube with Imperial Die wax
Size brass
Polish brass to remove case lube
Do case prep for rifle brass like trim, clean necks, remove crimps, uniform flash holes and primer pockets.
Store brass ready to load with it's heritage documented!

Since the Major Factory Loaders, the commercial reloaders, and a ton of common folk, like myself, tumble the loaded ammo, toss it in your tumbler for 20-30 min.

If you are using Imperial, all you need is a clean dry cloth to wipe off the cases up to 30 rounds or so, depending upon the size of the case. If you can't get it off with that, you're using too much. (see an above post- this forum) This way you avoid the beginner's mistake of getting tumbling media in the flash hole.

I don't have a problem with tumbling the finished rounds...I've found 12 minutes is plenty long enough. The exception is *some* HP designs that will clog with media...9MM XTP's, for one.

If you have a good many to do, lay a towel out, squirt it down to dampen with alcohol, add the rounds, fold 'em over and roll around...done.
